Ten Things To Do When You’re Feeling Down

Hello everyone,

I’m sure we have all had those days where things aren’t going the way you hoped and you just don’t feel right. Every little thing gets to you and you don’t feel happy, patient, or calm. You can’t seem to focus and you don’t feel positive or productive. All you want to do is crawl into bed and stay there. You think to yourself…it’s just one of those days.

While we strive to live a positive and happy life, we all experience negativity. It’s not always easy to let go of negative feelings (stress, sadness, anger, etc.) and they may not pass as quickly as we’d like them to sometimes. The key is to try and focus on other things that make you feel happy and encouraged when faced with a bad experience.

I’ve come up with a list of ten things to help you shake off the blues and hopefully turn your day and mood around!

  1. Write your negative thoughts and feelings down, then rip up the paper and throw it away
  2. Make a cup of tea (or any hot beverage that you enjoy)
  3. Read a good book
  4. Say a prayer
  5. Talk to a friend, a family member, or your partner
  6. Go for a walk
  7. Smile
  8. Bake/cook something delicious
  9. Play your favourite music and dance around the room
  10. Cuddle with your pet

These are just a few things that I like to do when I’m feeling down and I hope that they can help you as well. What do you do to pick yourself up after a not-so-great day? I’d love to hear your ideas!

Remember that you are awesome and that you can get through the negativity you are facing! Try to reflect on all the great things you have in your life and remind yourself that bad days happen, but there is always something good to appreciate and focus on. Take the time to do things you enjoy, be kind to yourself and to others, and know that things will get better!

I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday so far!

Thanks for reading,

Sydney
