Blogmas Days 14-18: Things I love about Christmas, holiday essentials, the best Christmas gift I ever received, my favourite Christmas movies, and my favourite cookie recipe!

Hello everyone!

Whew, we have a lot to cover in today’s post, as I’ve missed quite a few days! I have to admit that I completely forgot about posting over the past few days….it was quite a busy week this past week and I only came to that realization this morning when I went to check my blog and saw that Blogmas day 13 was the last blogmas post I wrote! So here we are, five days later…oops!

I’ll try to keep this as short as possible since there are five days of Blogmas to squeeze into this post!

Here we go….

Day 14: Things I love about Christmas (Prompt from clarinabeauty.com)

There are many things I love about this time of year. I love the cold/snowy weather (although there are some years where there hasn’t been much snow for Christmas), the lights and decorations. I love watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music. I love putting up the Christmas tree, wrapping gifts, and baking (or eating) lots of yummy holiday treats. I love sipping on hot chocolate or tea and curling up on the couch with Danny after a long day. I love seeing to looks on people’s faces when they open their gifts. I love getting to see my family and friends and spending time with them. I enjoy going to church no matter what time of year it is, but there is always something different and special about going to church during the Christmas season. I just love the whole atmosphere of the Christmas season and it is definitely my favourite holiday!

What are your favourite things about the Christmas season?

Day 15: Holiday Essentials (Prompt from Hello Neverland)

Here is a short list of things that are essentials for me over the holidays!

1.) Warm drinks of any kind (I have been loving hot chocolate lately)

2.) Christmas lights and a Christmas tree

3.) A good Christmas playlist

4.) Warm sweaters

5.) Time spent with family and friends

6.) Christmas mugs

7.) Watching my favourite Christmas films

8.) Donating to at least one cause (Danny and I have made this a part of our Christmas traditions)

What are some of your holiday essentials?

Day 16: The best Christmas gift I ever received (Prompt from clarinabeauty.com)

I mentioned this in my Blogmas day 12 post, but the best gift I have ever received was definitely the piano my parents got for me when I was 9. I was so surprised and so grateful for that gift. They gave me the instrument as a gift, but they also gave me the gift of music and expression. Over the years, I grew to love playing and learning about music and it became a large part of my everyday life. I will never forget that Christmas and the amazing gift they gave me.

I’d love to know what the best gift you’ve ever received is!

Day 17: Favourite Christmas films

I have quite a few Christmas films that have become my favourite films over the years. In the interest of keeping this short, I’ll list five of my favourite Christmas movies!

1.) The Santa Clause

2.) The Nativity Story

3.) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original version and the Jim Carrey version)

4.) A Christmas Carol (My family always watches the 1951 version with Alastair Sim as Scrooge)

5.) It’s a Wonderful Life

What are some of your favourite Christmas films?

Day 18: Favourite Holiday Recipe (Prompt from Hello Neverland)

I did some baking this past weekend and I made one of my favourite holiday cookie recipes. I only started making chocolate crinkle cookies last year, but they have quickly become my favourite cookies to make for Christmas gatherings.

I followed the recipe from Ali at Gimme Some Oven last year and used the same recipe this year because these cookies are absolutely delicious! If you are interested in the recipe, click the link above to go to Ali’s page!
