What I Did Yesterday: Day off, getting things done, and watermelon salsa

Hello everyone!

Since announcing my return from what seems like the millionth hiatus I have taken from this blog, I have been trying to plan out posts for the upcoming week. I wanted to start with something simple to ease back into blogging, so I decided to write a “day in the life” post.

Here we go!

Monday, August 7th, 2017

This morning, Danny and I woke up much later than we expected to. We were both exhausted from the last week and the weekend, I guess we needed the sleep. It was definitely going to be more of a lazy day, which everyone needs sometimes right? That’s what holiday Mondays are for.

After breakfast, we headed out to get some laundry done (I know, it sounds oh so exciting). Between washing and drying, we got groceries and wandered around the mall for a little while. I may or may not have purchased some fall items from Bath and Body Works…I couldn’t help myself, especially after the cooler days we have had. I am so excited for the upcoming fall season, it’s actually a little bit ridiculous.

We finished up the laundry and lugged everything back home. We put everything away and Danny put on a movie for us to watch. I decided to make us a snack and I remembered that I had wanted to make watermelon salsa so I started prepping all of the ingredients. IT IS SO GOOD. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I actually did.

The recipe is from Gimme Some Oven and I found it when I was scrolling through Pinterest (as I always do). I have never tried watermelon salsa before but it is really delicious. It is a good balance between the sweet watermelon, the tangy lime juice, and the spicy jalapeños. The mint, cilantro, and red onion give it amazing flavour. Luckily I made a large batch so I can munch on it all week (although it probably won’t last a whole week in our house). If you haven’t tried watermelon salsa, I highly recommend that you do! It’s really easy to make as well. I’ll leave the recipe down below if you are interested!

So, we munched on our salsa and chips while we watched a movie. About half way through Danny had fallen asleep and I decided to read for a little while instead. After Danny woke up, he started making dinner for us. We ate and talked and enjoyed each other’s company. I love having days like this with him, where we just take our time with tasks and talk and laugh together. I am so grateful for having such a wonderful husband.

After dinner we watched another movie and cuddled up together before heading to bed.

There you go! My first “day in the life” post. It was definitely not an exciting day by any means, but this is what a typical lazy day is for Danny and I. I am just thankful that we were able to have the day to slow down a little bit and just enjoy each other’s company.

I hope you all have a great day today (or night depending on where you live)!

Thank you so much for reading.
