Blogmas Day 5: Winter Essentials

Winter has definitely made its presence…the temperature is steadily dropping, the days are shorter, and soon enough there will be snow! I love the winter season. I love seeing the snow fall, getting cozy under blankets with a hot beverage, and of course in December, all of the Christmas festivities.

For today’s Blogmas post, I thought I’d share some of my essentials for this winter season.

Vitamin C: The change of season also means that flu season is also upon us. I take vitamins regularly and each of them help me to stay healthy and fight illness, but as soon as I feel a cold coming on, I increase my dosage of Vitamin C. This is definitely an important essential for the winter months since this is the time that I tend to get sick the most.

Earl Grey Tea: I always say that I am an avid coffee drinker, which is 100% true, however, I also really enjoy tea. Earl Grey is my favourite tea to drink in the winter, especially curled up on the couch with a good book on a cold winter’s night,

Hand Cream: My skin gets incredibly dry in the winter so hand cream is a must! My favourite, tried-and-true hand cream is the Glysomed fragrance free hand cream. It is pretty thick and leaves my hands soothed and soft.

Blanket Scarf: I own three different blanket scarves and I love them! They are so cozy and warm, perfect for bundling up for a walk in the snow!

Lip Balm: No one likes chapped lips. Simple as that. My go-to is Smith’s Rosebud Salve. I love rose-scented anything and this really helps keep my lips hydrated.

Red Lipstick: I feel that red lips (or any dark lip colour) are perfect for the winter, especially around the holidays. There’s a reason that it’s a classic colour. I don’t wear it all the time, but when I do use lipstick, I tend to gravitate to the red shades.

Cream Highlighter: Because my skin gets so dry in the winter, I like to use cream products when I can. I’m currently using the Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight by Clinique. It gives a nice subtle glow to the skin and doesn’t cling to the dry patches on my cheeks.

Perfume: I only wear perfume on special occasions (like Christmas) but I’m still including it in this list because who doesn’t like to smell amazing? I recently went back to using an old favourite of mine, Taylor Swift’s Enchanted Wonderstruck.

Books/Journal: Books are a year-round essential. I always have a book on the go, or even two at times. I love curling up in bed with a hot cup of tea and a good book on a cold winter night. I am currently reading a Christian book series my grandmother loaned me and I have been loving it. I have also started journaling again recently so I thought I would include my journal in this essentials list.

What are your winter essentials?

Thanks for reading!
