I’m sorry I didn’t post yesterday, I ended up being out later than I expected last night. Today will be a combined post of day 6 and 7.
Day 6: Your favourite winter dinner
I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that I tend to eat more comfort foods in the winter. I love eating soups in the winter months especially. Soup for me is the best comfort food. It is easy to prepare and you can literally put anything you’d like into it.
My go-to soup for the winter months is butternut squash and carrot soup. Butternut squash is definitely one of my absolute favourite soups. It’s a definite comfort food for me, especially served with nice warm bread.
I made a batch of butternut squash and carrot soup last week and used a recipe from Jenn’s blog Peas and Crayons. She has a ton of great recipes so go check her out!!
This soup is so delicious and I will definitely be using Jenn’s recipe quite a few times this winter!

Day 7: Appreciating the season
Snow started falling last night and has continued into this afternoon. While some people grumble and complain about winter’s arrival, I am loving it. Everything seems so much more still and quiet when the snow falls. Everything looks beautiful, even magical at times.
Winter is my second favourite season. I love the stillness it brings. I love bundling up and walking through the snow. I love the smell of the crisp winter air. I love how the world seems just a little quieter.
Maybe I enjoy winter so much because I’m a winter baby (my birthday is December 9th). Christmas occurs during the winter season as well, which is why I feel that it is so special and magical.
I am ready to embrace the change of season and to see the beauty in it.
